Permanent concrete construction that withstands NY winters while creating your family’s backyard centerpiece.
You’re looking at a pool that’ll still look great when your kids bring their kids over for summer visits. Gunite construction means we’re literally building your pool from the ground up with steel-reinforced concrete that can handle whatever Long Island weather throws at it.
No cookie-cutter shapes here. Want a kidney design with a spa attachment? Done. Prefer a geometric layout with a sun shelf and swim-up bar area? We build it exactly how you picture it.
The real payoff comes five years down the road when your neighbors are dealing with liner replacements or surface repairs, and you’re just enjoying your pool. Gunite pools routinely last 30-50 years with basic maintenance, and they actually increase your property value instead of just being an expense.
JAS Aquatics has completed over 200 gunite pool installations across Nassau County, with dozens right here in West Hills. We understand local soil conditions, permit requirements, and the specific challenges that come with building permanent pools in this area.
Every project starts with a realistic timeline and a detailed contract. No surprise costs, no cutting corners on materials, and no disappearing act once construction begins. We stay on-site from excavation through final startup, ensuring each phase meets both industry standards and your expectations.
First, we handle all permits and utility markings before any digging starts. Excavation typically takes 1-2 days, followed by steel rebar installation that creates the structural framework for your pool shell.
The gunite application is where the magic happens. We spray concrete mixed with sand under high pressure over the steel framework, creating a solid, monolithic shell that’s stronger than poured concrete. This process takes one day but requires 7-10 days of curing before we can continue.
Plumbing and electrical rough-ins come next, followed by the interior finish application. You’ll choose from plaster, aggregate, or tile finishes based on your aesthetic preferences and budget. Final equipment installation, water filling, and chemical balancing complete the process. Total timeline runs 8-12 weeks depending on size and complexity.
Ready to get started?
Your gunite pool installation includes complete excavation, steel reinforcement, gunite shell construction, plumbing installation, electrical work, interior finishing, coping and decking preparation, and equipment startup. We coordinate all inspections and handle final county approvals.
Equipment packages include variable-speed pumps, cartridge or sand filtration systems, LED lighting, and automated chemical systems when requested. Heater installation for extended season use is available with gas or electric options depending on your utility setup and usage preferences.
West Hills properties often present unique challenges with sloped lots or limited access areas. We have experience working around mature landscaping, tight spaces, and drainage considerations specific to this area. Each installation includes a detailed cleanup and restoration of surrounding areas affected during construction.
