Tips to Help You Find a Dependable Pool Service in Hempstead, NY

A backyard swimming pool is a wonderful addition to your Nassau County yard. It can provide much-needed and well-deserved relaxation, offers endless hours of entertainment, and can deliver welcoming relief during the height of summer’s heat. A swimming pool is also a sizable investment that can cost tens of thousands of dollars; of course, given all the benefits it provides, the expense is well worth it. With that said, however, to ensure that you will get the most out of this feature, you want to make sure that you hire the most reputable pool service; a contractor you can really entrust to bring your vision of an outdoor oasis to life.

Want to install a swimming pool? The following are some simple tips that will help you find the best Hempstead, NY pool company to meet your specific needs.

Ask the People You Know

Do you know anyone who recently had a new pool installed in their Nassau County backyard or who had an existing pool refinished? Family, friends, neighbors, or co-workers, perhaps? If so, ask them which Hempstead, NY pool company they used, and if they would recommend that you use them to design and install a poolscape for you.

Word-of-mouth recommendations from the people you know are often the best way to find reliable professionals to perform the work and/or services you need or want to have done, including swimming pool companies. Why? Because you can usually count on the people you know and trust to offer honest recommendations.

Search the Internet

Whether you don’t know anyone who can provide you with pool service recommendations or you do but you’d like to add a few more candidates to your list, search the internet for swimming pool contractors. Simply type “pool company in Hempstead, NY” or similar queries into Google and you’re bound to get a long list of options to choose from. You can also check sites like the Better Business Bureau, Angie’s List, and Home Advisor for recommendations.

Take the time to visit the websites of a few of the pool service companies. Look at the services they offer, see if they have an online portfolio of poolscape projects they have completed, check to see if you can find information about credentials (how long they have been in business, if they’re licensed, etc.), and read through any testimonials or customer reviews you may find.

Get in Touch

Once you’ve compiled a list of at least three pool service candidates that have piqued your interests, get in touch with each one. A reputable Hempstead, NY pool company will offer in-person consultations. They’ll come to your Nassau County home to discuss the swimming pool design you’re envisioning, to find out about your budget, to share information about their company, including the services they offer and their credentials, and to assess your yard.

Ask each pool service you meet with key questions that will help you make a final decision; for example:

  • Are you licensed and insured?
  • How long have you been in business?
  • What will be included in the contract?
  • Do you offer a written estimate?
  • Do you provide 3D renderings?
  • Do you offer a warranty/guarantee?
  • Do you have references I can contact?
  • What type of payments do you accept?
  • How does the payment process work?
  • How long will it take to complete the pool installation?
  • Do you handle the permits or will I have to take care of them?

Of course, you can and should include any other pertinent questions that will help you decide which Hempstead, NY pool company to use.

The Town of Hempstead is one of the three towns in Nassau County in the U.S. state of New York. It occupies the southwestern part of the county, on the western half of Long Island. Twenty-two incorporated villages are completely or partially within the town. The town’s combined population was 759,757 at the 2010 census, which is the majority of the population of the county and by far the largest of any town in New York. In 2019, its combined population increased to an estimated 759,793 according to the American Community Survey.

The town was first settled around 1644 following the establishment of a treaty between English colonists, John Carman and Robert Fordham, and the Lenape Indians in 1643. Although the settlers were from the English colony of Connecticut, a patent was issued by the government of New Netherland after the settlers had purchased land from the local natives. This transaction is depicted in a mural in the Hempstead Village Hall, reproduced from a poster commemorating the 300th anniversary of Hempstead Village.

In local Dutch-language documents of the 1640s and later, the town was invariably called Heemstede, and several of Hempstead’s original 50 patentees were Dutch, suggesting that Hempstead was named after the Dutch town and/or castle Heemstede, which are near the cities of Haarlem and Amsterdam. However, the authorities possibly had Dutchified a name given by co-founder John Carman, who was born in 1606 in Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire, England, on land owned by his ancestors since the 13th century.

In 1664, the settlement under the new Province of New York adopted the Duke’s Laws, austere statutes that became the basis upon which the laws of many colonies were to be founded. For a time, Hempstead became known as “Old Blue”, as a result of the “Blue Laws”.
