Tips to Help You Find a Dependable Pool Service in Inwood, NY

A backyard swimming pool is a wonderful addition to your Nassau County yard. It can provide much-needed and well-deserved relaxation, offers endless hours of entertainment, and can deliver welcoming relief during the height of summer’s heat. A swimming pool is also a sizable investment that can cost tens of thousands of dollars; of course, given all the benefits it provides, the expense is well worth it. With that said, however, to ensure that you will get the most out of this feature, you want to make sure that you hire the most reputable pool service; a contractor you can really entrust to bring your vision of an outdoor oasis to life.

Want to install a swimming pool? The following are some simple tips that will help you find the best Inwood, NY pool company to meet your specific needs.

Ask the People You Know

Do you know anyone who recently had a new pool installed in their Nassau County backyard or who had an existing pool refinished? Family, friends, neighbors, or co-workers, perhaps? If so, ask them which Inwood, NY pool company they used, and if they would recommend that you use them to design and install a poolscape for you.

Word-of-mouth recommendations from the people you know are often the best way to find reliable professionals to perform the work and/or services you need or want to have done, including swimming pool companies. Why? Because you can usually count on the people you know and trust to offer honest recommendations.

Search the Internet

Whether you don’t know anyone who can provide you with pool service recommendations or you do but you’d like to add a few more candidates to your list, search the internet for swimming pool contractors. Simply type “pool company in Inwood, NY” or similar queries into Google and you’re bound to get a long list of options to choose from. You can also check sites like the Better Business Bureau, Angie’s List, and Home Advisor for recommendations.

Take the time to visit the websites of a few of the pool service companies. Look at the services they offer, see if they have an online portfolio of poolscape projects they have completed, check to see if you can find information about credentials (how long they have been in business, if they’re licensed, etc.), and read through any testimonials or customer reviews you may find.

Get in Touch

Once you’ve compiled a list of at least three pool service candidates that have piqued your interests, get in touch with each one. A reputable Inwood, NY pool company will offer in-person consultations. They’ll come to your Nassau County home to discuss the swimming pool design you’re envisioning, to find out about your budget, to share information about their company, including the services they offer and their credentials, and to assess your yard.

Ask each pool service you meet with key questions that will help you make a final decision; for example:

  • Are you licensed and insured?
  • How long have you been in business?
  • What will be included in the contract?
  • Do you offer a written estimate?
  • Do you provide 3D renderings?
  • Do you offer a warranty/guarantee?
  • Do you have references I can contact?
  • What type of payments do you accept?
  • How does the payment process work?
  • How long will it take to complete the pool installation?
  • Do you handle the permits or will I have to take care of them?

Of course, you can and should include any other pertinent questions that will help you decide which Inwood, NY pool company to use.

Inwood is a hamlet and census-designated place (CDP) in Nassau County, on Long Island, in New York, United States. The population was 9,792 at the 2010 census. It is considered part of Long Island’s Five Towns area and is located within the Town of Hempstead.

Inwood was first settled in 1600s. Like many other nearby communities, the area was known as Near Rockaway. A meeting was held by the Town of Hempstead on January 16, 1663, and during that meeting, the name of what is now Inwood was changed to North West Point (also spelled as Northwest Point), named after its geographic position in relation to the more central part of Far Rockaway, which it was then part of. It became the first area which was once known as Near Rockaway to be given its own name. Its original settlers were Jamaica Bay fishermen, generally lawless and troublesome to other Rockaway residents. Soon after the American Civil War, the area in 1871 became known as Westville. The Westville designation was used until residents petitioned for the United States Postal Service to establish a post office in the community. The post office refused as a Westville already existed upstate. This led locals to change the community’s name to Inwood in December 1888. This name received the most votes; the other proposed names included Bayhead, Springhaven, Radwayton, Elco, Raway, Pike’s Peak, and Custer. By changing the name, the locals were able to get a post office for Inwood, which opened on February 25, 1889.

The post office closed ca. 1920, and it was not until 1949 when a new post office would open in the community (although an unsuccessful attempt was made in 1932).

The first true road in the area, the Inwood end of Lord Avenue, was built when the neighboring village of Lawrence was developed.
