Top Questions to Ask a Custom Sayville, NY Pool Company
Want to make a splash with a custom pool installation? A swimming pool can be a wonderful asset for your Suffolk County home and can offer a variety of benefits for you, your family, and your friends; however, in order to ensure you get the best pool design, hiring a reputable pool builder that has ample knowledge, extensive experience, and a proven track record of success is essential. How can you do that? By interviewing a few prospective candidates and asking some key questions.
The answers to the following questions will help you decide which Sayville, NY pool company you should hire.
Are you licensed and insured?
Any contractor who does construction work on your Suffolk County home should be licensed and insured – including a pool builder. Licensing is important, as it shows a Sayville, NY pool company has been properly trained and knows what they’re doing. Insurance is important in the event that any problems arise. If you hire a company that isn’t properly insured, you could be held liable for the legal ramifications and exorbitant costs that are associated with any accidents or injuries that may occur. Don’t just ask prospective pool builders if they’re licensed and insured; ask to see proof and confirm the validity of both.
Can I see samples of your work?
A quality Sayville, NY pool company will have a portfolio that they will be happy to share with their potential clients. The portfolio should feature a variety of projects and highlight different designs, styles, and water features to really showcase what the pool builder can do. If any of the contractors you speak with won’t provide a portfolio of projects they’ve completed, consider that a red flag and cross them off your list.
What will be included in the contract?
Swimming pool design and installation is intensive and involves a variety of elements. From the 3D renderings and the heavy equipment, to the materials and supplies – and much more – make sure you find out exactly what will be included in the contract so that you aren’t hit with any additional and unexpected costs.
Do you have references?
Past clients can tell you a lot about the results that a Suffolk County pool builder will deliver, so make sure you ask for references and take the time to reach out to a few people on the list. Inquire about what the project entailed, the swimming pool contractor’s professionalism, and whether or not the past clients you speak with were satisfied with the results and would recommend using the Sayville, NY pool company. If a prospective pool builder doesn’t provide references, proceed with caution; or better yet, nix them and find someone else.
Do you offer a guarantee/warranty?
A swimming pool is a big investment, but unfortunately, things can happen post-installation; for example, the ground can shift and cause cracks and leaks in gunite pools and fiberglass pools. Should that happen not long after the installation is complete, you don’t want to get hit with unexpected and exorbitant repair costs. A reputable Sayville, NY pool company will offer a guarantee/warranty that will cover issues that may occur within a specific period of time post-installation.

Sayville is a hamlet and census-designated place in Suffolk County, New York, United States. Located on the South Shore of Long Island in the Township of Islip, the population of the CDP was 16,853 at the time of the 2010 census.
The earliest known inhabitants of Sayville were the Secatogue tribe of the Algonquian peoples.
Sayville was founded by John Edwards (b. 1738) of East Hampton, New York. He built his home, the first in Sayville, in 1761, located at what is now the northwest corner of Foster Avenue and Edwards Street. The house was destroyed by fire in March 1913. Another man, John Greene, settled what is now known as West Sayville in 1767.
The community had no formal name until 1838 when residents gathered to choose a name for their post office, which had opened on March 22, 1837. Until that time, Sayville was known informally as “over south.” The townspeople held a meeting to decide on a name, and after Edwardsville and Greensville tied in a vote, one resident suggested “Seaville”. According to historical accounts, the clerk at that particular meeting did not know how to spell and had to go home and look in an old Bible he had brought from England years before. In the Bible, the word “sea” was spelled “s-a-y”, and “Sayville” became the name he sent to Washington. After the error was discovered, the community sent a letter of protest to Washington D.C.; however, the Postmaster General responded that the name should stay “Sayville”, as there were many “Seaville”s in the world but no “Sayville”s. As a result, the name stuck. The claim is also sometimes made that “in some very old Bibles, the town name is also spelled ‘S-a-v-i-l-l-e'”., It may be noted that until the early 19th Century, it was common in many varieties of English to pronounce “sea” so that it rhymed with “obey”, and thus “Sayville” could have been a phonetic representation of how some speakers would have pronounced “Seaville.”Learn more about Sayville.
