Tips to Help You Find a Dependable Pool Service in Plandome, NY

A backyard swimming pool is a wonderful addition to your Nassau County yard. It can provide much-needed and well-deserved relaxation, offers endless hours of entertainment, and can deliver welcoming relief during the height of summer’s heat. A swimming pool is also a sizable investment that can cost tens of thousands of dollars; of course, given all the benefits it provides, the expense is well worth it. With that said, however, to ensure that you will get the most out of this feature, you want to make sure that you hire the most reputable pool service; a contractor you can really entrust to bring your vision of an outdoor oasis to life.

Want to install a swimming pool? The following are some simple tips that will help you find the best Plandome, NY pool company to meet your specific needs.

Ask the People You Know

Do you know anyone who recently had a new pool installed in their Nassau County backyard or who had an existing pool refinished? Family, friends, neighbors, or co-workers, perhaps? If so, ask them which Plandome, NY pool company they used, and if they would recommend that you use them to design and install a poolscape for you.

Word-of-mouth recommendations from the people you know are often the best way to find reliable professionals to perform the work and/or services you need or want to have done, including swimming pool companies. Why? Because you can usually count on the people you know and trust to offer honest recommendations.

Search the Internet

Whether you don’t know anyone who can provide you with pool service recommendations or you do but you’d like to add a few more candidates to your list, search the internet for swimming pool contractors. Simply type “pool company in Plandome, NY” or similar queries into Google and you’re bound to get a long list of options to choose from. You can also check sites like the Better Business Bureau, Angie’s List, and Home Advisor for recommendations.

Take the time to visit the websites of a few of the pool service companies. Look at the services they offer, see if they have an online portfolio of poolscape projects they have completed, check to see if you can find information about credentials (how long they have been in business, if they’re licensed, etc.), and read through any testimonials or customer reviews you may find.

Get in Touch

Once you’ve compiled a list of at least three pool service candidates that have piqued your interests, get in touch with each one. A reputable Plandome, NY pool company will offer in-person consultations. They’ll come to your Nassau County home to discuss the swimming pool design you’re envisioning, to find out about your budget, to share information about their company, including the services they offer and their credentials, and to assess your yard.

Ask each pool service you meet with key questions that will help you make a final decision; for example:

  • Are you licensed and insured?
  • How long have you been in business?
  • What will be included in the contract?
  • Do you offer a written estimate?
  • Do you provide 3D renderings?
  • Do you offer a warranty/guarantee?
  • Do you have references I can contact?
  • What type of payments do you accept?
  • How does the payment process work?
  • How long will it take to complete the pool installation?
  • Do you handle the permits or will I have to take care of them?

Of course, you can and should include any other pertinent questions that will help you decide which Plandome, NY pool company to use.

Plandome is a village in the Town of North Hempstead in Nassau County, on the North Shore of Long Island, in New York, United States. It is considered part of the Greater Manhasset area, which is anchored by Manhasset. The population was 1,349 at the 2010 census.

The Great Neck and Port Washington Railroad, a subsidiary of the Long Island Rail Road built what is today known as the Port Washington Branch through the community in 1898; Plandome became a flag stop until it received a station in 1909. The original station building suffered a serious fire in January 1987, and was rebuilt along with platform lengthening and refurbishment by 1990.

The Village of Plandome was incorporated in 1911 as the Plandome Land Company began to develop the village itself, though some homes, farmhouses, and mills had been built in the area in prior decades. Plandome, like the surrounding villages Plandome Manor and Plandome Heights, derives its name from the Latin ‘Planus Domus’, meaning plain, or level home.

The Willets Farmhouse, circa 1810, is still extant on Willets Lane. It was built by brewer George Willets of the Willets family of Cow Neck. The house was recently restored and is not currently landmarked. The Almeron and Olive Smith House at 50 South Drive is dated to 1907 and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2006.
